  • We have such amazing blackcurrant bushes in the garden and this is what I did with them.
Get your currants, washed and without stalks,
stir with a bit of sugar until a you have a mushy paste.
    add chosen alcohol or flavouring.
stir daily for 7-10 days until all sugar has gone. ( leave in sunny spot to enhance flavour )
once sugar is gone, leave for 1 - 4 months or to your preference. ( longer you leave it the stronger the flavour )
Strain currants to be left with the spirit, eat berries or use in Crumble / Jam / Tart etc ( Adults Only )
Enjoy Drinks - My go to is Blackcurrant Flavoured Gin, with some good quality Apple Juice and Fresh Ginger. - Delicious. ( Hot Apple Juice on a cold winters evening )
Give a thumbs up if you enjoyed xx

Does adding sugar just make it more of a liquor?

Yes, it makes it sweeter and more like a liquor, you could not add sugar and keep the drink more like a vodka or a gin etc. I like the sweetness and often drink it neat with ice rather than with a tonic but both are amazing. I am currently on my second batch! its just about ready to be bottled from summer of 21'. Are you making you own?

      I have used 70cl Vodka,2 cups of blueberry's and 1/2 a cup of sugar.
I plan on leaving it 6months.
