[edit]Suspected sockpuppets

Joseph A. Spadaro has a recent history of trolling talk pages of political articles. He received repeated warnings at User talk:Joseph A. Spadaro#Not a forum, and then went silent. Shortly after, about the same time as being notified of a discussion about this behavior at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User_talk:Joseph A. Spadaro, the account "Bear skello" was created, and quickly used to garner enough edits to bypass semi-protection once the account ages 4 days. Edits to main space appear to be mostly vandalism.[1][2][3][4][5]
The possibility of sockpuppetry became evident when Bear skello admonished someone on Talk:FBI search of Mar-a-Lago for treating the talk page as a forum,[6] which is exactly what Joseph A. Sparado had been doing. ~Anachronist (talk) 07:29, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

- I blocked Bear skello earlier today after an AIV report, as their edits were largely vandalism or trolling. This report seems at least plausible to me, the timing is very coincidental, and in addition to the FBI search article Bear skello showed an interest in Alvin Bragg [7], an article Spadaro has made quite a few edits to (7 to the article and 23 to the talk page). [edit]Unrelated. Different geolocation, different browser. Of course, I cannot rule out WP:MEAT, but I see nothing technical tying the two accounts together. I agree the timeline is interesting. --Yamla (talk) 19:33, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- I suspect joe-jobbery. In any case, both accounts are now indeffed for other reasons, so the issue of sockpuppetry is moot. Closing. Spicy (talk) 19:37, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
